Google AdWords announced on Google+ that they’ll discontinue Flash in favour of HTML5 ads from January 2017. Why does it matter to you? Well, HTML5 loads faster, drains less battery and looks nicer while managing to do so.
Flash has been around but always been unimpressive. The possibilities were endless, but the implementation was quite wrong. Even Adobe was tired of Flash and the flack it brought in. They recently redirected the technology into an animation platform to Animate CC, accepting that HTML5 is a more appropriate medium for us.Apple dropped Flash at the fist instance they could, and now Google is following suit.
Stating that Google display ads will go 100% HTML5, AdWords said that advertisers will be encouraged to use HTML5 and denied from submitting Flash advertisements from June 2016.
